>> After their recent struggles it was nice to see GW turn in such an impressive performance against Temple on Saturday. The Colonials trounced the Owls by a 74-58 mark and led from wire to wire. GW had a week to prepare for the game and installed a full court press to great effect. Omar Williams told the Post, “We wanted to come out and play aggressive. We were able to speed the game up and make them play at our pace.” Williams scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and handed out five assists.
Next up: At Richmond on Saturday.
>> Despite less than stellar performances from Brandon Bowman and Jeff Green, The Georgetown Hoyas held off a scrappy Rutgers squad behind Ashanti Cook’s 23 points. Cook shot 7 of 12 from the floor and 7 of 8 from the line and dished out six assists with only one turnover. Currently the Hoyas stand at 15-6 overall and 7-3 in the Big East.

>> Contrary to popular opinion, DCist really wants to write something positive about this season’s Jekyll and Hide Maryland Terrapins, but it’s hard to do so when they fall to the likes of Miami. Trailing by as many as nine in the final minutes of regulation, the Terps battled back to force OT only to lose when they couldn’t grab a rebound with .08 left on the clock and were forced to foul Miami’s Will Forsby. Forsby calmly sank the resulting free throws to win the game. The loss leaves Maryland with a 13-7 overall record, 4-5 in the ACC. With seven games left, the Terps are running out of time to salvage their season.
Next up: At Va Tech tomorrow night.
