Howard Dean’s political comeback is nearly complete: barring something on the level of an intern scandal, the 447 voting members of the Democratic National Committee are expected to overwhelmingly support him as successor to outgoing chief Terry McAuliffe at a meeting on Saturday.
And tomorrow evening at 7:00 p.m. the Deaniacs will descend upon Capitol City Brewing near Union Station, where the doctor himself pays a house call at an event co-hosted by DC for Dean spinoff Democracy for DC. Having vanquished his rivals for the DNC job, including former Reps. Martin Frost of Texas and Tim Roemer of Indiana and political operatives Donnie Fowler and Simon Rosenberg, this is something of a victory lap on the way to the medal ceremony. In a town where Dean for America signs (circa August 2003) can still be spotted on light poles, it’s fixing to be the political event of … well, tomorrow night.
