Today’s news begs the question: How many of us at DCist are going to quit our daytime jobs for a shot at working for the Washington Nationals?
ARAMARK Corporation, the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission, and Contemporary Services Corporation announced today that they are looking to fill 900 jobs at the newly refurbished RFK Memorial Stadium, which goes into official use as the Nats temporary home in 49 days. The job categories include stand managers, grill cooks, beer pourers, food runners, and six others. A “Grand Slam” Job Fair will be held on February 19th to fill the positions.
Competition may be stiff, though, if history serves as any guide. The Post reported a few weeks ago that in their first weeks of operations, the Washington Nationals were overwhelmed by 15,000 résumés for the 45 front-office jobs available. One can only imagine what the human crush will be at a job fair for Washington’s first baseball team in 33 years, especially to be a beer pourer.
