Josh, Santos and the rest of the pack are back in D.C. (one night only!) for a DNC fund raiser. Santos pulls a respectable 19 percent in the New Hampshire primary and everyone, except Josh, is pleased.

There’s a funny opening scene of Santos singing “Allison” by Elvis Costello, and really the man can carry a tune. He leans in a little too close to Josh, still singing, and Josh says, “Are you going to kiss me?” It’s funny, and yes, Josh is still totally crushing on the Congressman. Josh spends the day roaming around the White House, catching up, saying hey, and trying to get the president to see him. No dice.

In the White House, we see a more morose-than-usual Toby who has just come back from a funeral. The bulk of the episode is done in a flashback and we slowly learn that Toby’s brother (the astronaut) died. Josh does go to see Toby, and the two of them having a really great scene together. We can’t do it justice, but Josh expresses concern over Toby’s brother’s death, and Toby totally slams him for leaving the White House in the lurch. And then, the real reason for Toby’s outrage comes out. He can’t believe Josh didn’t ask him to come work on the Santos campaign, and shouts that together they would have been unstoppable. It’s awesome and it’s true.
