A class of eighth-graders from New Hampshire won’t get to come to D.C. Why? Concerns over security in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Prince George’s County has endorsed the notion of making the District of Columbia the 51st state. Unlike attempts to get New Hampshire and Florida to embrace D.C. statehood, this came without a big plane trip.

New Hampshire House Says No to D.C. Statehood
The New Hampshire House of Representatives today voted down a resolution that would have made the Granite State the first state to officially endorse the prospect of granting full statehood to the District of Columbia.
Despite a day of testimony from District officials and D.C. voting rights activists, a New Hampshire House of Representatives committee declined Friday to support a resolution endorsing D.C. statehood. The bill can still be heard in the full state legislature, however.
A trip to New Hampshire to lobby for D.C. statehood that was postponed by snow in the Granite State has been rescheduled for January 27.

Statehood Tour Is Going to Be Pretty Crowded
At a quick press conference yesterday before the D.C. Council’s first legislative session of 2012, Mayor Vince Gray and most of the D.C. Council touted their upcoming trip to New Hampshire, where they will lobby the state legislature there to endorse District statehood.
