A quick roundup of what’s going on in our neighborhoods …
Palisades
In an article sure to further feed the passions of people with real estate interests near MacArthur Boulevard, the Post highlights the Palisades, a neighborhood this DCist used to call home. We’ll pick out a few fun descriptions: “Architectural variety” … “Arts and Crafts bungalows” … “folksy Fourth of July parade” … and neighborhood-grown grapes making wine that’s “not great, but drinkable.”
We just like how the neighborhood Exxon station advertises itself as world famous on its lighters. We just had to buy one and add it to our souvenir collection. Like the article says, people in the Palisades are a little more laid back, living in their “New England” style village. Those folks down the way in Foxhall Village, they’re just a little more uptight.
Northeast
Trinidad-based blogger Frozen Tropics points us to an article from Thursday’s Post about revitalization plans of the New York Avenue corridor, particularly in the area near Bladensburg Road, which the Post describes as “a ragtag strip lined with auto repair shops and fast-food joints … ripe for revitalization.”
