Matthew Lesko, he of the famous question mark suits and advocate of taking advantage of free government money has taken up the cause of the unsung government bureaucrat on his blog. Lesko has just announced a contest rewarding the hard work of government employee’s that goes mostly unnoticed. Lesko blogs:

Good government only happens when the people working in it do their jobs, and do them well. I’ve been a witness to some amazing stories of people in government going out of their way to literally change people’s lives. Well, it’s time to recognize those in government who have gone above and beyond what they have been asked in order to help people achieve their goals.

Lesko is asking readers of the blog to submit their personal tales of how someone in government, be it a lowly Hill staffer or an elected official, help them achieve a goal. Goodness, we’re only allowed to submit one? Hmm, come to think of it, we can’t even think of one example, but perhaps you can.

Leskoblog is hoping for submissions via the comments section. Mr. Questions Mark himself will choose three winners. First prize is a whopping $500 for the government employee and two $100 runner up prizes. What about it readers, is there a government employee out there that deserves this prize?

Thanks to a loyal DCist reader for the tip!
