Well it’s not exactly the FEC, but it looks like one local blogger is being chased by John Law. The Washington Socialite’s Kelly Ann Collins has been served a cease and desist letter by Perkins Coie for publishing the hacked contents of Paris Hilton’s now-infamous Sidekick. The letter claims that the materials are copyrighted and that Hilton has a “privacy interest” in the materials; the letter is most likely one of many arriving in various gossip bloggers’ mailboxes.
According to Collins, this isn’t the first time she has been threatened with legal action. Other prospective plaintiffs have included Jessica Cutler and Tara Reid. Collins’ is clearly fascinated by b-level “glitterati”, but we’re surprised that her subjects are so litigious. Though Collins suggests that her next lawsuit may come from Jeff Gannon, we wonder if a lawsuit might be coming from elsewhere. After all, Karl Rove may not be happy that the blog world knows where he gets his hair cut.
