FRIDAY:
>> The circus has come to town! Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will be having an evening show tonight, 7:30 p.m. at the MCI Center. If you get there 90 minutes early, you can enjoy free entertainment, and during the pre-show Three Ring Adventure, kids can meet performers and pose for photos with the crazy clowns. Tickets can be purchased here.
SATURDAY:
>> If you’re feeling energetic come Saturday AM, why not head over to the GW EJF Race for Justice 5K Run/Walk to benefit the GW Loan Reimbursement Assistance Program (LRAP). The race helps recent graduates pursue public interest employment by aiding them with student loans. $25 registration fee; the race is at the Hains Point 5K course and starts at 8 a.m.
>> Also for the early-morning motivated: The White House will be distributing tickets to its uber-popular Easter Egg Roll this morning at 7:30 a.m. The tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis at the Ellipse Visitor Pavilion (southwest corner of 15th and E streets NW). Education Secretary Margaret Spellings will be hosting. But doesn’t she hate bunnies…?
>> For those who didn’t grab Interpol tickets in time, check out our favorite NPR feature, “All Songs Considered,” because they’ll be streaming the Saturday Interpol/Blonde Redhead show live starting at 7:45 p.m. They did this for Wilco and Bright Eyes, too, and if they keep it up, we’re just going to have to go and marry them. Additionally, you can e-mail Interpol a question via NPR and they’ll answer some of them on the show.
>> Tickets are no longer available for the National Cherry Blossom Festival Opening Ceremony, but there are plenty of other cherry blossom-related activities to keep you occupied. Check out the Saturday event list here, which includes cultural performances, bike rides, and kimono exhibits.
>> Fatboy Slim plays a late show at the 9:30 Club. Doors are at 11:30, and tickets will run you $35.
SUNDAY:
>> If you feel like having a special Easter experience, the National Cathedral is holding a no-pass-required service at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The 11 a.m. service requires a free pass, but is apparently full.
>> There will also be a free sunrise service at the Arlington National Cemetery, starting at 6:15 a.m. A free shuttle bus service will begin at 5:30 a.m. from the Arlington Cemetery visitor’s parking lot. Call 703-695-3250 for more information.
>> Moody chamber rockers The Gena Rowlands Band celebrate the release of a new CD with a show at Iota. Meredith Bragg opens. 8:30 p.m., $10.
