Bowser now says that low-level conversations about a possible reciprocity deal on traffic camera tickets happened years ago, but it never got to the governors of Maryland and Virginia.

D.C. has an extensive network of traffic cameras, but out-of-state drivers can largely escape punishment because there is no agreement with Maryland and Virginia to force them to pay up.

About 32,000 drivers have paid off $44 million worth of speed and red light camera tickets, parking tickets, and other moving violation tickets since April.

Some are facing little or no communication from venues.

2016 saw the lowest number of parking tickets issued and revenue generated this decade.

But the city is still waiting for folks to pay more than $125 million worth of tickets.

There was a service problem this morning that prevented lots of people from getting tickets.

It appears that it’s an insiders-only event.

Tickets for April will be up for grabs on January 4 at 9 a.m. and May passes will be available on February 1.

Another chance to try to snag tickets for early 2017.
