DCist was critical of new Dupont “restolounge” Cloud before, noting that the white-on-white, bar with beds theme was feeling pretty tired. But owner Savino Recine didn’t stop there. In fact, he’s taken the bed theme to its logical conclusion. Beginning Sunday, May 8th, Cloud is encouraging patrons to come to their Sunday brunch service clad in their pajamas.
There are some good things about Cloud’s new brunch service. For $21.95, diners will have their choice of four hot or cold tapas items along with dessert. Also included in the price is our favorite part of the deal — unlimited mimosas or Bloody Marys. For an additional $10, you can enjoy Cloud’s “globally inspired tapas” on one of the many beds in the lounge, including the canopy bunk bed in the VIP section. Brunch hours will be Sundays from noon to 8 p.m.
The press release from Cloud tells us that the wait staff will be serving your tapas and drinks clad in their nighttime best, and that patrons are encouraged to “roll out of bed and come to brunch in their pajamas, robe and slippers.” We’re wondering if that means brunching in silk PJ’s, or if we’d be welcome in ratty sweatpants and a wifebeater. In any case, the idea seems simultaneously ridiculous and kind of fun. It should be particularly good for those who’ve unexpectedly spent the night in the Dupont area: Cloud may become D.C.’s Walk of Shame destination of choice.
(Many thanks to DCist’s Jason Linkins for the “walk of shame” quip)
