The temps have wound down, the leaves are starting to crunch, and some lucky folks have Monday off. If you’ve got a day free because of newly-renamed Indigenous Peoples’ Day, try brunch at one of these D.C. spots.
Ambar
528 8th St. SE
Stop by Ambar’s Capitol Hill location from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., where you’ll have access to a $39 (excluding tax and gratuity) unlimited brunch of Balkan small plates, along with a selection of five bottomless brunch cocktails to sip on. Dishes included a poached pear waffle with house-made caramel sauce, roasted mushroom crepes, and a mixed berry mimosa.
Astro Beer Hall
1206 G St. NW
While not technically brunch, the newly opened beer hall will feature $5 draft cocktails until Tuesday morning (1 a.m., that is), so there’s no excuse not to party. Sip on the Sputnik made with Tito’s Vodka, ginger beer, and fresh lime, or the Mai-Space made with rum, pineapple, and orange juice. Of course, if you get hungry, there’s regular offerings from Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken — including their fried chicken and donut sandwich.

Brookland’s Finest is keeping it classic during their brunch celebration for the holiday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.. Menu highlights include specials such as the “Tony’s Breakfast Club,” a French toast sandwich filled with bacon, pork, cheddar, eggs, and dijon maple syrup. Brunch cocktails such as bloody Marys and custom bellinis will also be available.
