Editor’s note: The only thing this recipe has in common with the jumbo slice is that it’s jumbo and it’s sliced. But trust us: this is some seriously fantastic eating. Just make sure to save your leftovers, as trying to prepare this whilst drunk is most likely not a good idea.

Eating in is quite a few columns deep, and finally the requests are pouring in. Some like Palena’s roast chicken, and Teaism’s Salty Oatmeal Cookie (forthcoming) excite us. We are thrilled to go out, try new things, and attempt to decipher them at home. But when the request for a recipe that replicates the Jumbo Slice came in, it was a bit more difficult to muster our enthusiasm. We feel it’s greatest atrocity to strike the icon that is pizza, and yet some of our loyal readers want to eat it in.
DCist was about to blow it off for good till a late brunch at Rosemary’s Thyme Bistro got us thinking. What if we did the jumbo, but made our own decisions on the slice? DCist’s Mediterranean Pidé was born.
