By now, all the visiting law students have settled into D.C. — the first-years at government or public interest jobs, the second years at pristine frosted-glass-and-Italian-marble law firms. Although law students may have brought more mind-numbing conversation and generally more anxiety with them into the city, they have also brought their student organizations, which can throw some events of interest to those for whom the LSAT is just a twinkle in the eye.
The American Constitution Society, a progressive/liberal organization, has a full slate of events (available here) including a Social Justice Networking Reception, a discussion of the 2004-05 Supreme Court term with several former Solicitors General, and a summer convention featuring keynote speaker John Edwards, who celebrates his 52nd birthday today.
The Federalist Society (image at right), the well-heeled conservative organiztion, is hosting a dinner with Maryland Gov. Robert Ehrlich tonight. Later in the summer, the Federalists will host their own Supreme Court roundup featuring former Solicitor General Theodore Olson. Write here for more information on both of these events.
