Jerry Seinfeld made it through an hour of stand up on Friday, then, in typical fashion, answered some questions and outbursts. After a woman in the back row shouted something about Maryland, Jerry went off.

“Oh, can’t forget Maryland. I think Larry David went to the University of Maryland. What are they, the Terrapins? The Terrapins. What is that, a turtle? Oh, the turtles. Let’s not choose anything too aggressive. We have running, jumping, fighting sports. I think we’ll go with the turtle.”

The sold out crowd at the Kennedy Center loved Seinfeld for riffing on something local. He also commented on Julia Louis Dreyfus being from Towson, but didn’t delve into that too deeply. Towson is naturally a funny place.

This DCist has seen Seinfeld twice since he dropped his old act and created a new one from scratch three years ago. His material these days is mostly topical, as if all he’s been doing is sitting watching television, reading magazines and just walking around New York City. Given Seinfeld’s situation, DCist doubts this is far off from the truth.
