Last night in Columbus DC United notched their first road win since their season opener, riding Nick Rimando’s agility and the Crew’s own misfortunes for a hard fought 1-0 victory.

In the first half, DC spent the bulk of the time in Columbus’ defensive end, but though they outshot the Crew, Columbus managed to imbue their scant opportunities with a more significant amount of danger. Luckily, Nick Rimando brought his “A” game. In the early going, he sprung and stretched to poke away a pair of close shots from the left side. But it was in the waning minutes of the first half that Rimando really came up big. Counterattacking after an offside call on Nana Kaffour nullified an apparent score, Columbus sent the ball in to a streaking John Wolyniec. Just as is appeared Wolyniec was set to shoot, defender John Wilson slid at the ball from Wolyniec’s right.
