This post comes to us from contributor Sam Biddle.

Right on the heels of the passing of Freda Wright-Sorce comes another loss in radio land. David Haines passed away on July 10th, after 14 years on the air at WPGC helping Washingtonians drag themselves out of bed and keep themselves awake during the morning commute. His emphatic delivery of the news was both an integral part of the Donnie Simpson Show and an institution of Washington mornings. You may be a loyal Elliot In The Morning fan, or an avid Russ Parr listener, but Friday mornings will certainly never be the same without Haines’ booming declaration of “IT’S FRIIIIIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!” The cause of death has not been reported.

According to WPGC’s website (where we found this photo), donations can be made to the David Haines Memorial Education Fund at the following address: David Haines Memorial Education Fund Attention: Karen Nelson, Provident Bank, 1649 Crofton Center, Crofton, MD 21114. Any notes of condolence for the Haines family can be sent to david at wpgc955.com.
