Really, what isn’t filming in DC these days? Major Hollywood muscle has been spotted all over town, giving us celebrity gossip hounds a rare and local fix. Last night’s premiere of the Miramax movie “The Great Raid” at the Uptown in Cleveland Park brought out more then a few famous faces, but the buzz was all about Mayor Willams and Michael Douglas shaking hands in front of the Mayflower Hotel.
In addition to the movie premiere, which brought out Kelly Ripa and “The Great Raid” “stars” Mark Consuelos, Benjamin Bratt, Joesph Fiennes, and hottie James Franco; Michael Douglas, uber-hot wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 24 super agent Kiefer Sutherland and desperate housewife Eva Longoria are also in town filming the action thriller “The Sentinel.”
That’s a lot of celebrity eye candy for one city. Yesterday, this DCist left the cool confines of her office to watch the filming of the movie about a block from her office. We wasted our lunch break waiting for Michael Douglas to emerge from his air conditioned car, or Kiefer to come running down M Street. Sadly, we don’t have much to report, as we’ve had nary a celebrity sighting. “The Sentinel” will be filming this afternoon around Eye Street, so stalkers, get your game plan ready. If you play your cards right, you can score a 30-second bit part, with a payoff of about $600.
