To confirm a story that broke on DCRTV last week (side request to Dave Hughes: can you re-do your page to allow permalinking?), yesterday XM Satellite Radio announced that beginning September 12th, former WJFK radio personalities Ron & Fez will begin broadcasting middays on XM’s High Voltage. Bennington and Whatley will be following long time friends and former WNEW cohorts Opie & Anthony, who were fired from the New York “Hot Talk” station after their infamous St. Patrick’s Day stunt, never to be heard on terrestrial radio again. For over a year, O&A have hosted a morning drivetime show on XM.

Taking Ron & Fez’s spot on WJFK’s evening slot will be a personality whose different incarnations may be familiar to many locals — The Peter Rosenberg Show, hosted by (natch) Peter Rosenberg. Rosenberg has had his own stints on XM as a music DJ, but is probably known (at least to some former Terps out there) as PMD, host of 88.1 WMUC’s now defunct From Dusk ’til Dawn. Rosenberg had also been a fill in on WPGC and had a run on the former life of WHFS.

In other D.C. radio news, today the Don & Mike show returns to the airwaves with its full cast. For the past three weeks, Mike O’Meara has held down the fort. Mike Sorce broadcast a moving solo tribute to his wife, who passed away three weeks ago, yesterday; O’Meara and the rest of the Don & Mike team will join Sorce, AKA Don Geronimo, on the air today.
