In news that slipped under the radar, we find today that the University of the District of Columbia’s David A. Clarke School of Law was, for the first time, fully accredited by the American Bar Association at its recent annual meeting. In a decision in June, the ABA’s Council on the Section on Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar found that UDC’s law school met the minumum standards of legal education, thus joining 191 other schools nationwide that enjoy similar status.

UDC, above, was chartered in 1974 from three pre-existing educational institutions, and serves as the city’s only public university. The university’s law school was established in 1996, and currently serves some 250 students, though plans exist to expand full-time programs to accomodate 450 students in the coming years.
