As we in the DCist newsroom say, you can never have too many society magazines.

Via U.S. News & World Report’s Washington Whispers, we hear that Capitol File, a new Washington society magazine, hits the streets tomorrow. According to editor-in-chief Anne Schroeder, the new magazine reveals that “Washington is fun and sexy.” Not to self-promote, but we at DCist have been publishing that fact for the better part of the last year. Or making fun of it. Either way, we’re all about the fun and sexiness. Capitol File promises to cover everything from arts and beauty to luxury goods and philanthropy in its four annual issues.

But this isn’t a society magazine for us all, like, ehem, the Washingtonian. No, this is a society magazine for what we all strive to be — miraculously rich. According to the magazine’s circulation breakdown, 54 percent of its issues will be delivered to homes valued $750,000 or more with incomes of $250,000 and up and with credit card expenditures in excess of $100,000. We hope they at least hit all the rich neighborhoods, not just the white ones like the Examiner did at their launch.

Then again, at 346 pages we wouldn’t particularly want one weighing down our front step. Washington Whispers says that amid all the ads is embedded an interview with Madeleine Albright where she reveals her approach to packing for a trip (pick “one basic color”) and John Podesta boasts about his cooking skills. Sounds like thrilling reading to us.
