It’s a new feature, a music roundtable! You’ll get the hang of it. We plan on doing this, oh, periodically, as questions come to us and our local musicians respond.
We here at DCist love our local record stores. The information superhighway being what it is, we may not buy quite as much as we used to, but we still find our way to the better DC shops, to browse and chat and have a look at the flyers, to see a local band, to try and track down that Velocity Girl album we didn’t know about before.
We just wish the the old stores we used to love hadn’t, you know, closed down. Repeatedly. So, after serious rumination on the subject, we asked a selection of kindly obliging local artists their thoughts on that district mystery:
With a few notable exceptions (particularly for vinyl) why can’t D.C. seem to support independent CD stores?
