Good morning, Washington. We hope you have had an enjoyable Halloween Weekend. As we compile this post the AP is reporting President Bush has a trick or treat this morning, depending on your point of view: his new nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court will be Judge Samuel A. Alito. The good weather will continue, today will be sunny with temperatures in the low 70s.

Parks Honored at U.S. Capitol: The body of civil rights leader Rosa Parks will be viewable at the U.S. Capitol until 10:00 a.m. this morning. Thousands converged at the Capitol yesterday to pay their respects, and a reader submitted this photo taken outside of the Capitol last night. At 1:00 p.m. today a public memorial service will be held at the Metropolitan AME Church on M Street in Northwest, the AP via WTOP reports. The Post has coverage of both the procession and viewing
at the Capitol.

Marine Corps Marathon: Yesterday saw beautiful weather for the annual Marine Corps Marathon, where relative unknown Mexico City runner Ruben Garcia edged out last year’s fifth-place finisher Carl Rundell after an exciting duel. A record 27,800 people started the race. The Post has coverage of the winners and the Examiner a story about some of the race’s more exotic participants. For complete searchable results, see the race website. A number of DCists participated, as a variety of photos from the race have been posted to DCist photos.
