Isn’t that a face just made for TV? Our local celebrity is going national with his own TV special. Animal Planet will air an hour long documentary about the nation’s favorite panda cub this Saturday night at 8 p.m. The doc, creatively titled A Panda is Born!, will show the actual birth footage of panda cub Butterstick. Now, we love the little guy, but even we’re not sure we need to see that. True Butterstick obsessives probably already have their DVR’s set, though.

The documentary takes curious viewers behind the scenes with National Zoo vet Suzan Murray and details the conception, delivery and nursing of the cub. Considering that Butterstick is guarded like a state secret, we’re dying to glimpse some new footage of mama-bear and baby in the days right after the birth. Think Butterstick’s dad will make a cameo appearance?
