Coming back to work after the holidays can be about as exciting as oral surgery, so we here at DCist have devised a special post-New Year’s treat for you: A Free Movie. Granted, we realize that the number of our readers out there who both enjoy movies AND getting things for free might be somewhat limited. But if DCist is known for anything, it’s for taking the big risks.
On Thursday, Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Regal Gallery Place theater, 25 lucky DCist readers and their guests will get to plop down with popcorn, Milk Duds, and other essential movie-going accoutrements* for a special advanced screening of Woody Allen’s latest movie, Match Point. The early buzz on the film, which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers as a failed tennis star who risks his entire future for the sexy fiancée of his best friend, played by Scarlett Johansson, is that this is Allen’s finest work since Bullets Over Broadway. We’ve even heard stories about screenings at Cannes, where the movie premiered, in which because no credits for the film rolled until the end, many audiences were left wondering who had made this terriffic little film, and were astonished to discover it was Allen.
All you have to do to get in on Thursday night’s fun is to be one of the first 25 people to send an e-mail to dcist.movies@gmail.com with the correct answer to the following, incredibly easy Woody Allen trivia question:
Which actress was originally supposed to play Carol Lipton (Diane Keaton was eventually given the role) in 1993’s Manhattan Murder Mystery?
We’ll send our 25 winners a pass for them and a guest to attend Thursday night’s screening by 10 a.m. Wednesday morning … if you haven’t heard from us by then, you haven’t won. Please be sure that you will be able to attend before you enter, and that you can arrive 30 minutes before the screening begins. Seats are not guaranteed, so we really recommend you get there early to ensure you get in without a hassle.
We look forward to seeing you at the movies!
