Everyone knows the “18th Street at 2 a.m.” side of Adams Morgan, but what about the rich and diverse history of the neighborhood? And don’t you wonder what it looks like in the daytime? This Saturday, there is a chance to learn about the “other side” of Adams Morgan with Step Back Into History: The Adams Morgan Heritage Trail Walk, the inaugural event of the fifth Heritage Trail in the District. A joint collaboration between Cultural Tourism DC and the Adams Morgan Heritage Trail Working Group, the Heritage Trail is comprised of 18 poster-sized street signs showcasing the facts about and flavors of Adams Morgan.

Anywhere between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., walkers can grab a map and brochure at The Potter’s House before they set off on the Adams Morgan trail. The signs aren’t in any particular order, so folks can start at any stop they please. Along the way, walkers can pause and warm up at any of the 12 businesses and organizations who will be offering free treats and special shopping discounts. The official unveiling at 1 p.m. with Mayor Anthony Williams and Councilmember Jim Graham is already full, but there will be plenty of trail goodness to spread around.
