We mentioned last week that Metro would begin running 8-car trains on the Orange Line this Monday. Yesterday was, in fact, the first day of the trial, and the Post reports that the commute seemed less crowded (the paper quotes a rider as saying, “I think it was a little less crowded,” which sounds pretty convincing to us). Nonetheless, our own Red Line experience suggested that Monday wasn’t a representative commuting day, as we easily found a seat where none is usually available, and we didn’t get within shouting distance of an 8-car train.

So, with today all busy like normal, we were hoping to find out from our readers how the magnum train experience was affecting the Orange Line commute. Let us know readers: was there any difference? Were the middle cars crowded while the end cars sat empty? And was the manual braking better or worse than the auto-pilot that operates on 4 and 6-car trains? The comment section is yours.
