Tour News
So, you’re bummed that Arctic Monkeys tickets sold out. So are we. Nobody’s gonna have any idea how we look on the dance floor, and we find that upsetting. But we’re picking ourselves up and dusting ourselves off, because one monolith of an indie tour, two much anticipated bands and a couple other cool shows are coming to a venue nearby.

The big tour announcement of the week goes to the power-bill of Franz Ferdinand and Death Cab For Cutie. They may both technically be in the warm glow of major labels, but both bands can take some credit for the current popularity of indie rock. All discussions of the meaning of “indie” and the oxymoron of “popular indie rock” aside, we’re looking forward to the April 11 show at DAR. While visions of presales dance in your head, we’re remembering the last time we saw Gibbard & Co quite fondly.

In other tour news, local blogs have been burning up bandwidth for months in hopes (or not) that The National and Wolf Parade would make their way to D.C. Well, somebody out there was listening. The National plays the Black Cat on March 15, and Wolf Parade (also at the Cat) comes to town April 12. But wait! There’s more! The fabulous Art Brut (4/9, Black Cat) and the no-adjective-is-sufficient-to-describe-her Neko Case (4/9, 9:30 Club) are paying us a visit as well. You’ll have to pick your poison on April 9th, but we’re willing to wager that neither show will disappoint. Springtime: it’s so hot right now.

Date Change
Anybody holding tickets to next week’s Feist show at the Black Cat take note: The the show, originally scheduled for the 9th, has been bumped up a day. Got that? Go to the Black Cat on Wednesday and you’ll enjoy Feist. Go to the Black Cat on Thursday and you’ll enjoy the Red Room.

Staccato Closing?
Here’s A Hint tipped us off to this story that states that Staccato Lounge will be closing its doors sometime in the very near future. No mention on the venue’s website, but you can apparently take part in a farewell happy hour. Stop by and bid adiue to quite a nice little music venue tonight at 9 p.m.

The Caribbean Gets ‘Forked
Congratulations to local band and DCist favorites The Caribbean for earning a rating of 7.2 from the tempestuous folks at Pitchfork. The rating was bestowed to the band’s album, Plastic Explosives. We’ve been singing its praises for a while; glad to know the indie overloards are recognizing this very deserving D.C. band.
