We know the size of the can of worms we face whenever we address issues in the campaign for the Ward 3 seat on the D.C. Council. Nonetheless, we’re here to discuss the matters that are affecting Washington’s residents and voters, and this certainly qualifies. Earlier today, we received the following email from a faithful DCist reader:
To whom it may concern,
I am forwarding the attached e-mail in the hopes that this person will realize exactly what the consequences for sending unsolicited e-mail can be.
I originally contacted jonathan.rees@rees-for-citycouncil.com to protest their constant marketing SPAM on cragislist.org. I made it clear that I was not supportive of their campaign for this reason. Since that time, they have added me to their mailing list without my permission and are sending unsolicited marketing SPAM to my e-mail address. When I responded and requested that they remove me from their distribution list, I got the e-mail that is attached below.
This is a ridiculous situation and the unprofessionalism is amazing. This team is knowingly and admittedly spamming and refuse to remove people whose e-mails they have added to their marketing lists without permission. Hopefully filing a complaint with the FTC and CCing members of the DC City Council and the Press will get the point across that marketing of this sort is not appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
