Rumor Mill Grinding Up
There may be changes afoot where the West End, Foggy Bottom, and Downtown meet. In the midst of this vortex, Smith Properties is redoing the office building that houses a law firm, a Bank of America, a cell phone store, and—most importantly—Galileo Restaurant. Galileo?! Duhn Duhnh Duhhhhhhhhn.
The building itself at 2101 L St. NW is coming down, but what of the best Italian restaurant in the District? What of local Couric-feeder, Comeback Kid, and Iron Chef “Runner Up” Roberto Donna? What of his staff and all of their fluently Italian hotness?
Bear in mind, this is merely a rumor. An unnamed DCist source said Chef Donna “punted” on questions regarding the restaurant’s future, and anything more is speculation. Why the hesitation? Wouldn’t you jump in and deny such a claim?
We can’t know for sure, but will Galileo persevere as 2101 L comes down around it? Will it temporarily relocate? Or will it [gasp!] close? Anyone up for a little more freshly ground gossip?
