Ok, so we didn’t win the Powerball drawing. At least not anything big. That $4 prize for matching two numbers isn’t really consolation enough for the $40 dropped on tickets. But it was a busy week in the world of DCist, million dollar jackpot or not.

This week, Bed Bath & Beyond in Gallery Place was visited by D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams, we braved the snow to see Supergrass and Pilotdrift at 9:30, Butterstick once again proved he can still find new ways to be adorable, and WTOP uncovered why we should hate those damn motorcades. We debated whether or not the District was becoming more and more like Manhattan, cooked rabbit, savored Shaw’s newest Ethiopian addition, and witnessed the small beginnings of the “Free Borf!” movement. We asked DCist’s readers to guess our traffic (for a cool t-shirt, no less!), considered whether crime was on the up and up in the District, welcomed the D.C. Statehood Green Party to the mayoral contest, eavesdropped a little more, considered whether to get rid of Metro’s carpets and cushions, demanded better wine reviews from the Post, and launched our Election 2006 coverage.

And of course, and most importantly, we learned two valuable lessons: (1) A certain candidate for the Ward 3 seat on the D.C. Council just isn’t terribly mature, and (2) Don’t come between the superfan and their pre-sale tickets.
