If you’re slightly overweight and have trouble catching your breath on the way out of the Metro, you should be ashamed of yourself and your slovenly ways. If Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice can keep in such fine form, why can’t you? Are you jet-setting around the world to put out small diplomatic fires or start bigger ones, all the while keeping toned abs and low body fat? We didn’t think so. Fear not, though, for today is the day you can learn how Condi does it.

Hoping to delve deeper inside the diplomat extraordinaire’s psyche while promoting better fitness the world around, District-based NBC 4 was lucky enough to sit in on Condi’s early-morning workout last week, and will be airing clips of her routine today, tomorrow, and Friday during their 4 p.m. broadcast. While we hear that the country’s top diplomat tends to stick to lifting weights and spinning on a stationary bike, she can also be found sprinting away from the prying media, artfully dodging Congressional inquiries, and beating on — but never torturing, mind you — detainees at undisclosed black sites.

DCist is frantically trying to organize its own workout routine with prominent District figures, though “Sweating to the Oldies with Mayor Williams” hasn’t sold very well in City Hall.

Update: Our friends at NBC 4 just informed us that the clips of Condi working out are aired at 5:45 a.m., and re-broadcast during the 4 p.m. show. Since we’re all working out that early in the morning, we’ll have to catch the afternoon broadcasts.
