This week we saw Verizon’s first foray into graffiti advertising fail miserably, as the District levied fines totaling over $20,000 on the telecommunications giant for the illegal use of public space. It was also quite the week for George Mason University, whose students, faculty and administrators rallied around the team and went easy on class attendance, only to see it lose to Florida in its Final Four matchup.

We reported on some Hill heavies taking on Comcast over Nats games, welcomed the City Paper and a modest socialite to the blogosphere, sat down with The New Republic’s Franklin Foer and welcomed one more sister city to the family. We tested our spelling skills, celebrated 45 years of the 23rd Amendment, checked out the Ms. Senior District of Columbia Pageant, warned against jaywalking, reported on the District’s many problems and found out way too much about the folks at Media Matters and their bathroom habits.

It was also a week full of music coverage, local and national; food and drink; and the arts.
