The Post has a blog for pretty much everything, the City Paper recently kicked off their own blog, and now the Express is joining the fold.
Friend and former DCist editor Mike Grass — who was wooed away from us last year by the Express — has been putting his blogging talents to the test with a new blog launching this Wednesday, FreeRide. The blog will feature news, arts, music, food and sports from a number of contributors, not to mention a very cool map function that lets you choose a Metro station and locate bars, restaurants and entertainment nearby. And, of course, it will include an online version of the Express’s Blog Log, that little space towards that back that daily makes or breaks local bloggers.
Are we scared of the competition, you ask? Heck no. There’s a little Adam Smith in us all. Did we secretly send Mike’s bank account number to a troubled businessman in Nigeria as a form of retaliation? Possibly. Did we recruit Ben Domenech to write for us just to get some attention? Obvs.
Welcome to the blogosphere, FreeRide, and congrats on the new project, Mike. Given the work that you did for DCist, we’re looking forward to seeing where you take FreeRide.
