Who hasn’t had the fantasy while drowning in tedium at the office? Your boss is down on your judgment. You’re catching a lot of flack in daily meetings, with colleagues questioning the reasons for your poor performance. So you end one work day on a tirade: kicking chairs, yelling at no one in particular, and storming out.

We don’t regularly recommend that approach to our readers, but something seems to have worked for Brian Schneider, and we’d love it if he’d keep it up. His season-long slump and the resulting media questioning finally got to him this August. On Sunday the catcher blew up after a frustrating loss.

Fortunately for the clubhouse furniture, Schneider’s taking most of his aggravation out on opposing pitching as of late. He’s hitting .326 in August, including a double and a 3-run homer in last night’s win over the Braves at RFK. The recent surge has brought his batting average from out of the depths to .239 and climbing. So, on second thought, maybe give the conference table a solid thump on the way by next time.
