Down in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, there remain plenty of reminders that the Carolina Panthers haven’t quite taken over as the top team in the region. Even at a tremendous distance from DC, Redskins flags still wave from the houses on Virginia Dare Road and autographed photos of Skins luminaries such as Brian Mitchell and Art Monk are still prominently hung on the walls of local BBQ joints. Of course, the distance to DC also provides a comfortable coccoon in which to lay and avoid hearing about that time the home team travelled up to New England for an epic preseason debacle.

So, this is the way it’s going to be, eh? One ducks out of town for one week only to return and learn that the team panicked and sprung a trade to acquire T.J. Duckett, travelled north and laid an egg against the New England Patriots, and Coach Gibbs, in the aftermath, seems mostly concerned with how the punting team is doing. Oy to the vey, y’all.

The game, a 41-0 affair in which the Redskins were beaten like so many of Gene Krupa’s drums, was billed as the starting team’s last chance to shine before the new season. So let’s take a look at how they did:
