MONDAY
>> If you like your electroclash sample-free, head to the 9:30 Club for Liverpool’s Ladytron. $20
>> Not quite sure what to make of it, but the Bodog Battle of the Bands rolls on this Monday and Tuesday at DC9. $15 each night
>> The last time Architecture in Helsinki came to the Black Cat, they tested the
stage’s human-holding capacity. Though Lambchop and the Tosca String Quartet may have given them a run for their money last week, the Australian band’s unique avant-garde-meets-pop sound will probably be significantly more energetic than their competitors. $13, 8:30 p.m.
>> The big man known as Bobby Bare Jr. brings his big accent, his big curly hair and his big band to IOTA with Roman Candle tonight. They are, to put it simply, really great. $12, 8:30 p.m.
>> If you’re in a musical frame of mind but aren’t really up for a live show, check out Galaxy Hut to see Fugazi’s Instrument.
TUESDAY
>> While just about every indie rock fan is likely to have at least one Yo La Tengo album in their collection, the Hoboken-based band that’s been making beautiful music for more than two decades has been getting pretty much panned for their live shows over the past few months (particularly for their performance the Pitchfork Festival). But, surly sunburned bloggers may not be the best judges, so we say it’s worth the price of admission. 9:30 Club, $20
>> The Black Cat’s website promises “really real hip hop” from Subtle. And the folks at the Black Cat are good people, so we’re inclined to believe them. With Son of Nun and Food For Animals. $13, 8:30 p.m.
