The Tony’s. The Helen Hayes Awards. Opening night of just about anything, natch.
The world of theater has a lot of big nights, it seems. Add one more to the list.
On October 19, D.C. will celebrate a Free Night of Theater. Participating theaters — and there are many of them — will offer free tickets to some of the area’s most popular shows.
And we’re not talking just a few tiny theaters desperate for an audience. Dying to see Cabaret after we liked it so much? Arena Stage is on the list. Prefer a more political piece? See Ford’s Theatre‘s State of the Union. A full list of participants is available online. While you’re there, check out the list of theatres who are offering free tickets beyond the October 19 date, including everyone from Rorschach to Woolly Mammoth.
Naturally, the event is bound to generate a teeeeeeny bit of enthusiasm, so ticket giveaways are starting early — online reservations are available beginning at noon this Sunday through the League of Washington Theatres website. One reservation can be made per email address, and two tickets made per reservation.
