Continuing what we started yesterday, here’s a little glimpse into some of this weekend’s DAM Fest bands. Plan your schedule with the help of these handy dandy sample tracks and pertinent info from our crack music staff.

Bleeder Resistor
Featuring buzzsaw guitars, hoarse-voiced catchy shout-alongs and a mandate of faster and louder, Bleeder Resistor are out to keep the capital “DC” in HarDCore. At a time when most bands are trying to emphasize the “post” in their post-punk, BR are crafting straightforward punk rock that gives them more in common with Bad Religion than just a shared set of initials. After a quiet 2006, the band is resurfacing for the DAM!Fest this tonight at the Velvet Lounge.

DJ Spooky
The District’s own DJ Spooky is a turntablist for the intellectual set. The best-selling author is also a university professor, and has been known to drop phrases like “dialectics of entropy” into conversation. Musically, he falls somewhere between Portishead at the Wu Tang Clan: ambient break-beats infused with a hip-hop sensibility to create an atmosphere that is kinda, well, spooky. Tonight, at the Rock & Roll Hotel. We couldn’t track down a DJ Spooky MP3, but there’s plenty to listen to on his website.

Len Bias
Hailing from right here in D.C., Bryan Beebe, Wes Garcia, Kevin Jones and Mark Raymond comprise the irresistible Len Bias. Named for the legendary Terp whose career came to an end far too soon, this band is anything but tragic. Describing themselves as “big beat/rock,” their percussive and melodic sound will have visions of DPlan dancing in your head. See for yourself tonight at the Velvet Lounge.
