It feels like it’s been a while since anyone truly famous has graced our fair city with their presence, but it looks like that drought comes to an end today. According to an email we received yesterday, Matt Damon and Robert DeNiro are in town (actually in Fairfax, Virginia) today taping a special episode of Chris Matthews’ Hardball. Before you berate us for not passing this tip on earlier, tickets were only available to Mason students with a valid ID:
On Thursday, December 14 at 1:30 PM HARDBALL with Chris Matthews will tape the show at George Mason University in the Concert Hall at the Center for the Arts. The special guests are Robert DeNiro and Matt Damon, who are going to discuss their new movie “The Good Shepherd.” Two hundred priority student tickets to attend the taping of the program. We are allowing one ticket per student. You must show a Mason Student ID.
If that tidbit isn’t enough, today’s Examiner cattily reports that Matt’s Good Shepard co-star Angelina Jolie is taking a break from single handedly saving the developing world and will be in D.C. as well:
Angelina Jolie can shut down not only marriages, but buildings as well. The superstar is expected in town today to campaign on behalf of malaria prevention and, in anticipation of her visit, half of the National Geographic’s building will be shut down for security purposes and Jolie’s appearance is closed to the public.
If Angelina’s around, can Brad be far behind? That’s an awful lot of star power for this town. Unfortunately, our source inside National Geographic says that Miss Jolie was a no-show, but that (yawn) President Bush and (bigger yawn) Condoleezza Rice did make an appearance. If anyone has any more details on the event, please, let us know in the comments.
So, grab your camera phones and hit the streets, D.C.! The pretty people have to eat, sleep and drink somewhere. We assume they’ll do it at restaurants and hotels we’re too broke to even think twice about stepping into, but you never can tell. Also, if anyone was at the Hardball taping and has a first hand account to share, please do so in the comments. The rest of you, keep your eyes peeled.
