If you’re anything like us here at DCist, you’ve really given up the pretense of doing any work, and are merely counting down the days to your holiday vacation. Despite the lack of cold weather, snow, or anything seasonal, actually, the spirit manges to make its way in to our cold, bitter, two-sizes-too-small hearts. Somehow.

And one way that happens is via the various displays of awesome Christmas lights that can be found throughout the area. It’s nice when even adults let their ridiculous, excessive inner children come out — on my street alone you can find massive, globular light-up snowmen; and reindeer (the fake kind) hanging precariously from rooftops.

The Post has taken citizen journalism to new holiday heights, asking readers to send in pictures of their lights and displays and those of their neighbors in their Virtual Light Show. (Though, they seem to have submissions only from surrounding counties; what’s up with that?) And About.com has a guide to area lights, if you’re looking to go out, travel around and get your light jollies on.

But although these guides may give you places to go, they don’t give you much of a place to editorialize. So we thought that we’d put the call out to DCist readers, as we so often do: where are your favorite area light displays? Who’s got the most crazy/annoying/tasteless/holiday-happy lights that you’ve seen? Bonus points if you happen to have pictures of them. And to answer the obvious question: Yes, it’s a slow news day around here. But we still love them lights.
