It’s a slow beginning to the week as every venue in our purview seems to be dark Monday and Tuesday, but it’ll give us all a good chance to refuel before the ’07 concert season kicks into high-gear later this week. If you’ve got any tips for musical destinations this week, particularly tonight and tomorrow, let us know in the comments.
WEDNESDAY
>> Emily Haines of Broken Social Scene and Metric comes to the 9:30 with her first outwardly solo project, the Soft Skeleton. The latest indie rock chanteuse to turn in a confessional side-project, Haines’s recent release, Knives Don’t Have Your Back, garnered some good reviews. Check it out for yourself. Seated show, with the Tall Firs. $15, Doors at 7:30 p.m.
>> The monthly women’s spoken word event Mothertongue returns to the Black Cat backstage. Proceeds to benefit community organizations around D.C. helping improve the lives of women and girls in the metro D.C. area. With special guest Carly Sachs. $5, 9 p.m.
>> 70s soul-funk outfit War, sans Eric Burdon, hits the Birchmere in Del Ray. Tickets only $35. Doors at 7:30 p.m.
THURSDAY
