Say hello to your old friend labor, D.C.– not that these hearty climbers didn’t work hard to scale a rock and capture an oddly captivating shot. Whether you spent the holiday laboring to keep sand out of your bathing suit on the beach or perfectly timing bathroom breaks during a Law and Order marathon at home, we hope you had a nice break. To kick off the roundup with some happy news news, it looks like the Post’s hard-hitting reporting staff has broken the story that taffy is de-licious! Anyone else up for a fact-checking foray to the shore?

Mass Ave. Commute Snarled: Drivers who use Massachusetts Avenue to head into the District from Montgomery County face lane closures this morning after an overnight water main break caused a partial roadway collapse. WSSC is working to repair the road near the intersection of Brookeway Dr. in Bethesda. As of now, traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction. The DCist traffic copter is in the shop, but it looks to us like River Rd. is your best alternate, but feel free to offer your own tips in comments.

Constitution Ave. to Become East-West: In more transit news, Council member Tommy Wells (D- Ward 6) is hailing a decision to shift a mile-long drag of Constitution Avenue in Northeast from a westbound corridor to the Hill into a two-way residential street at all times. The switch takes place in July and comes in response to neighborhood concerns about morning commuters contributing to congestion and endangering pedestrians. Other recommendations included in last-year’s Capitol Hill transit study include replacing road signs, repainting crosswalks and patching potholes. Could other D.C. commuting roads be next for re-residentialization?
