‘Tis the season for outdoor venues, and it just so happens the greater D.C. area has a plethora of them. Outside the confines of our beloved Fort Reno, Wolftrap, Merriweather Post Pavilion, Nissan Pavilion, and a few more decent venues all exist within an hour of the District. They might require a bit of a hike, and usually a car, but if you have the means, might as well pick up a cheap lawn seat and enjoy the fine weather and some bigger names in the touring world.

Wolftrap
>> Venerable quasi-jazz-rockers Steely Dan make their Wolftrap debut this Thursday, June 7, on the final leg of their “Heavy Rollers Tour.” They’re ostensibly touring in support of the upcoming greatest hits collection, The Best of Steely Dan, due out October 2. 8 p.m. $50/35 (lawn).

>> Anyone for schlock? Better yet, feel like paying $45 bucks for it? Perhaps the real question is whether a band has ever fallen as far as Chicago, whose first couple albums are quite good though totally lost in the shuffle of nearly three decades of Splenda-filled AAA. Anyway, don’t say we didn’t warn you. Tuesday June 12, 8 p.m. $45/30.
