>>The D.C. Gaels got a landmark victory this weekend, beating the Philadelphia Shamrocks 0-12 to 1-5. The victory was their first against the Shamrocks. What the hootenanny are the D.C. Gaels? Turns out that they are a competetive hurling team. From what we can tell, hurling combines elements of field hockey, lacrosse, baseball, and Austrailian Rules Football. There’s a clip on the Gaels’ web site that gives you a better idea of the game. According to their Development and Recruiting Officer, they’re “always looking for new players”, so if you’re feeling the need to hurl feel free to shoot them an email.
