>> Mic Harrison (formerly of Superdrag) brings some alt-country goodness to the Velvet Lounge tonight, with The High Signs and Julie Ocean (ex-Velocity Girl). Show starts at 9 p.m.
>> SILVERDOCS is in its first full day, so head on up to Silver Spring to check out a wide array of documentary film on offer. We’d recommend Oliver Hodge’s Garbage Warrior at 8:45 p.m., about New Mexico architect Michael Reynolds, who builds homes out of beer cans, tires and bottles; brilliant and meticulous filmmaker Frederick Wiseman’s latest ridiculously long documentary, this time concerning the workings of the State Legislature at 6:15 p.m., and local D.C. filmmaker Glenn Baker’s look at Muslim-American comedians, Stand Up at 10:15 p.m. Check out the full schedule here for ticket information, and remember that all sold-out shows will have a stand-by line beginning one hour before the show — if you get there early enough, you can almost always get a seat.
>> Austin-based indie rockers Voxtrot bring their high-energy live show to the Black Cat, with Au Revoir Simone. 8 p.m., $12.
>> If you can slip away from work early, Jabari Asim will discuss and sign his book The N Word: Who Can Say It, Who Shouldn’t, and Why at at Busboys and Poets. Though we’re guessing he’ll tell you pretty much not to say it. 6:30 to 8 p.m. (please note corrected time).
>> Feist and Grizzly Bear at 9:30 Club is sold out, but craigslist seems to have a few more tickets available if you’re still hoping to go.
