>> Fort Reno has Antelope, Scanner Freaks, and OmegaBand tonight, at the usual 7:15 p.m. start time. Check out our Three Stars interview with Scanner Freaks and album review of Antelope for a preview of the show.

>> The Bang — featuring Three Stars veteran Anthony Pirog — is playing at Wonderland Ballroom with Pilesar and the Quagmire, 10 p.m.

>> Former Washington Post writer Jeffrey Frank, now a senior editor at The New Yorker, will be at Olsson’s in Penn Quarter to discuss his new novel, Trudy Hopedale, a satire about a Washington socialite and talk show host whose life is slowly unraveling just in time for the 2000 election. 7 p.m.

>> There must be a lot of people for whom the word “Abracadabra” makes them want to reach out and grab someone. Or maybe they kind of like Jimmy Buffett but think he’s too tropical. They’ll all be at Wolf Trap tonight for the sold out(!) Steve Miller Band show. If you really want to hear formerly futuristic keyboard sounds on “Fly Like an Eagle” and some song about a playing card or something, try looking for tickets on Craigslist or from the half drunk guy outside the venue.
