Calling all lame, angsty middle school versions of yourself. As part of a national tour, the cultish comedy show MORTIFIED is coming to the DC-area in October, but before then, the folks behind it need you to unearth those dusty Pee-chee portfolios filled with goo-goo ga-ga love letters, poems and top-secret journal entries. Let strangers hear the precious—preciously embarrassing, that is—truth about what you wanted to do with Oscar on the swing set. Or how that bulky back brace ruined any sense of self-confidence (thanks for the scoliosis, Mom). Yes, MORTIFIED is a sort of literary reading event consisting entirely of adolescent journals, letters, poems, lyrics, home movies and stories shared by their original authors before total strangers.

Got the guts to participate? Submit a request to MORTIFIED before next Friday, August 10 to secure a time slot over the August 18-19 casting call weekend. Watch sample clips here and find out more about exactly what to expect here. All work should have been written between the ages of 6-21, though we’d add no doubt the very best stuff would have to come from between the ages of 12 and 16, the prime embarrassment years.
