In news that will make hard luck single guys everywhere feel better about themselves, Wizards forward Andray Blatche was arrested yesterday for soliciting sex from an undercover police officer in Thomas Circle. This isn’t the first run in with trouble for Blatche since joining the Wizards: he was carjacked and shot in the chest during his rookie year.

Compounding the issue for Blatche is the fact that he currently has a 5-year, $12.5 million dollar contract extension on the table from Wizards General Manager Ernie Grunfeld. It remains to be seen how this arrest will affect Blatche’s future with the Wizards, but we’re guessing Grunfeld isn’t a happy camper right now. As Wizards Insider notes, Blatche is known to go out on the town quite a bit whenever the Wiz hit the road.

In other Wizards news, today is the deadline for the team to sign or trade Spanish guard Juan Carlos Navarro. If nothing is done by the end of the day, Navarro’s Spanish club will raise his buyout back to $14 million, effectively ending any chance for him to play in the NBA. If a deal is done today — the Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly interested and perhaps willing to give up a first round pick next year — then Navarro’s buyout is only $3 million. Also, second round pick Dominic McGuire has been signed to a three year deal.

Lastly, the NBA schedule for 2007-2008 has been released. The Wizards open in Indiana on Halloween and travel to Boston for a nationally televised game against the Celtics on Friday, November 2nd. The home opener is the following night against the Orlando Magic.
