If you’re heading to any Yellow line destinations this weekend, including National Airport, you should make alternate plans. Metro is shutting down the Yellow line rail bridge over the Potomac River this weekend to do track maintenance and conduct an annual bridge inspection. The closure begins tonight at 10 p.m. and lasts through Sunday at midnight. Directions from WMATA:

When a Yellow Line train arrives at the King Street Metrorail station, passengers must transfer to a Blue Line train because the Yellow Line will not operate between the King Street and Fort Totten Metrorail stations. Yellow Line customers from Huntington who need to get to the Green Line, will need to transfer to the Blue Line at King Street then transfer to the Green Line at L’Enfant Plaza.

There will be limited Yellow line service only between the Huntington and King Street stations. Customers along the Green line who have gotten used to having increased off-peak service thanks to the Yellow line extension to Ft. Totten will have an old-school weekend of lengthy wait times. More track maintenance will also take place on the Red and Orange lines and officials will test rail cars on the Green Line, so expect the usual delays.
